If you feel I am the right person for you then we can make an appointment. Counselling for children?
After booking a consultation session with me via telephone or email, I will invite yourself and your child to meet with me. Here we can discuss your child's needs and reasons for therapy. I am able to offer support to parents whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times for the children and young person. This will be explained fully during our consultation session.
Free telephone appointment to support you. £50 per session for an adult, £50 per session for a young person and £60 per session for a child. Sessions are paid by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
If you cannot make a booked session please get in touch as soon as possible so we can rearrange your appointment. I ask for 24 hours notice unless there is an emergency, it is customs to charge for any missed sessions.
Sessions are weekly, lasting 50 minutes. Please inform me as early as possible, at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to make it or need to change your appointment.
Sessions with adult/young person and counsellor are kept confidential and this will be discussed in our first session in more detail. I abide by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework and follow confidentiality. If a parent wishes to know what has been discussed during our sessions, and the young person requests this then consent would have to be given by the young person. Before the therapeutic sessions begin, I am happy to discuss confidentiality with parents in order for parents and young person to understand the counselling process.
All sessions are confidential between counsellor and child within the therapeutic room, as a matter of professional ethics. I need parental consent to see your child if they are at primary school age. Contact between counsellor and parent will be made with the child’s awareness. Parental consent is not required in secondary schools where a student is deemed to be Fraser-competent, this assesses whether the young person is able to make decisions and understand their decision making with the support of appropriate professionals but not necessarily with the knowledge or consent of the parents if this is the young person’s desire.
If it is brought to my awareness that adult/young person/child were risking harming themselves or another, confidentiality may need to be breached.
Sessions take place in a safe, warm location in Farnham close to the train station and bus stops with plenty of parking. If you would like to book an appointment please contact me either by phone or email where I will be able to provide details on directions and any other information you may like to know.
